My Story
I’ve spent a good part of my life being the woman who appeared to handle it all.
Strong.
Dependable.
Responsible.
Resilent.
My moto "I'm like the Timex classic, take a licking and keep on ticking". I knew how to show up, get things done, take care of what needed taking care of, and keep it moving.
And I was good at it.
Maybe a little too good.
Because somewhere along the way, I realized I had become more familiar with the woman everyone else needed me to be—and much less with what I needed as a woman.
That realization changed something for me, and I started asking myself:
Did I become who I intended to be, or did I become who life required me to be?
As life began to change around me, there was more room to hear my own thoughts, my own questions, and my own desires.
I then discovered HER-
An innate being of imagination, creativity, and sovereignty - with room to become. Breathing HER in, I began to audit and release what no longer served me:
The beliefs
The expectations
The roles
The coping
The silence
The things I learned to call personality
That's where The Identity Edit comes from.
I don't see myself as the woman standing at the front of the room with all the answers. I'm more interested in being the woman sitting beside you, asking the questions and engaging in conversations that might help you hear yourself a little more clearly TOO!
Because I believe we are more than what happened to us, more than the roles we've played, and more than the identities we assembled simply to make it through.
I believe there is an original intent to who we were created to be.
And I believe that MASTERPIECE hasn't been distroyed but is still waiting for you to see HER.
That's the work I'm exploring. That's the conversation I'm inviting you into.
And maybe, somewhere along the way, you'll hear something that makes you look at who you are, peel back what doesn't belong, and revive HER.
If so, that's an edit worth making.
I'm LaToya Maye’.
Welcome to The Identity Edit.
